JDBC Driver for AWS Glue Catalog
Overview
The AWS Glue Catalog JDBC driver leverages the Amazon Athena JDBC driver and can be used in Collibra Catalog in the section ‘Collibra provided drivers’ to register AWS sources like Amazon S3 that have been cataloged in AWS Glue Catalog. By leveraging this driver and setting the MetadataDiscoveryMethod connection property to Glue, Collibra Catalog will be able to register metadata from Glue Catalog which in turn represents the database information form other AWS service like Amazon S3 and extract the structure of the source into its schemas, tables and columns.

This is to fix the data type detection and the correct use of the data source using the properties:
other=”SupportNativeDataType=True”
MetadatadiscoveryMethod=”Glue”
SupportNativeDataType to harvest the correct data type.
The MetadataDiscoveryMethod is needed in combination with the above property but it was not detecting if the source was either Glue or Athena, hence showing incorrect data types.
