Overview

For this specific integration (and all other Custom Integrations listed on the Collibra Marketplace), please read the following disclaimer:

  • This integration is a template that has been developed in cooperation with a few select clients based on their custom use cases and business needs.
  • While all effort has been made to encompass a range of typical usage scenarios, specific needs beyond this may require chargeable template customization.
  • With this in mind, we have made sure that the template is available as source code and readily modifiable to suit the client's particular use case.

Qlik Sense is an application that helps clients create and fully customize analytics solutions to even the most complex analytics tasks, by creating visualizations, charts, interactive dashboards, and analytics apps.

This application is designed to retrieve, map and ingest metadata from a Qlik Sense instance into Collibra Platform. To achieve this, the inbound source Documents, along with its Sheets, Dimensions, Measures, Variables, Bookmarks and Data Connections retrieved from Qlik Sense are transformed into objects that Collibra will recognize.

A CMA file is also included. Once this CMA file is imported within your Collibra instance, it will ensure that all the custom prerequisites will be generated automatically.

Alternative ways to try out this integration are via the supplied JAR file or Docker image with the compiled build version of the integration. These contain all the required dependencies and source code. After a minimal number of required changes as described in this document, users can run the integration using one simple command.

Use Cases

Often, data is captured, transformed and sourced from Qlik Sense with little documentation. This Qlik Sense integration will help you enhance your data lineage diagrams, data dictionaries, and business glossaries.

In this way, you will gain increased trust and data citizen engagement around data streams that pass through, are collected by, or are produced in Qlik Sense.

You can always be confident when planning and engaging with relevant business process owners, as the data center tracks changes in your Qlik Sense metadata.

Elements in Scope

The Qlik Sense integration is designed to retrieve metadata for Documents. Specifically, it retrieves the following elements from the documents (along with the Document itself):

  • Sheets
  • Dimensions
  • Measures
  • Variables
  • Bookmarks
  • Data Connections

The upsert operation is performed against a given Collibra Platform instance, with the name, description and other fields mapped over to standard fields on Collibra’s side.
