We have made the decision to transition away from Collibra Connect so that we can better serve you and ensure you can use future product functionality without re-instrumenting or rebuilding integrations. For more information, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager.

Overview

The Salesforce.com (SFDC) integration template is intended to collect metadata, including actual field names, from Salesforce.com and keep the metadata in sync with the Collibra Data Dictionary. This integration template makes use of the out-of-the-box and robust Salesforce.com connector to communicate with the Salesforce.com environment and retrieve metadata.

The scope of this integration is to enable SFDC end users to look up a field name as it appears on an SFDC screen, in Collibra. This means that they will have immediate access to the definition, roles and responsibilities, data lineage, data quality metrics, etc. around a particular field. Changes in business application metadata typically reflect changes in the underlying business processes, which this integration can help detect. It is often the case that data produced in an application is used in other downstream applications. Data offices can use this integration to properly engage with business process owners if changes occur in the data lifecycle, especially in case of changes that impact other business processes.

The Collibra Salesforce.com integration serves the following use cases, among others:

  • Increase trust and data citizen engagement around data streams that pass through SFDC and are collected or produced in it.
  • Enhance data lineage diagrams, data dictionaries, business glossaries as in many cases data is captured, transformed, sourced from SFDC with little documentation.
  • The data office can keep track of the changes in SFDC metadata in order to plan and engage with relevant business process owners accordingly.

We cannot recommend the package as the .cma file could not really be used by us as it would have overwritten customizations of business term, workflows, etc.

Dear Martina,
Thanks for your feedback.
Did you try using our proprietary metadata connectors? https://marketplace.collibra.com/listings/jdbc-driver-for-salesforce/
